ACRE Care

Helping candidates who support rural electrification is the primary purpose of the Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE).  ACRE is the grassroots political action committee of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

ACRE is bipartisan and its contributions are based on a candidate's record of support for rural electrification, not on his or her political affiliation.  ACRE is comprised of more than 25,000 individual contributions from electric cooperative directors, managers, employees, and consumers nationwide  In 2003, ACRE was ranked as the 47th largest PAC in the nation with more than $1 million in contributions.

Committee for the Advancement of Rural Electrification (CARE) contributions are for candidates who support rural electrification efforts that benefit Alaska's half-million electric consumers.  CARE is nonpartisan and makes contributions on the basis of a candidate's support for policies endorsed by the membership of Alaska Power Association.
