ARECA Insurance Exchange

ARECA Insurance Exchange, APA’s sister organization, provides multi-line coverage to many Alaska electric and telephone utilities. AIE is the clear choice for utilities in Alaska seeking to effectively manage and lower the total cost of their risk. It is a service-oriented insurer with an A- rating from A.M. Best.

In 1983, swings in the insurance market left many Alaskan businesses scrambling for a way to cover their risk as companies limited their offerings. In the continuing cooperative spirit of working together to meet a challenge, Alaska Power Association members formed the exchange to provide access to critical insurance coverage at reasonable rates.

Twenty Alaska utilities are members of ARECA Insurance Exchange. The policyholders are also the owners of the exchange, and may receive a share of the company's annual underwriting and investment profits.

If you are a representative of a utility interested in joining the exchange, please contact us.
