Alaska Power Association
Mission Statement:
The mission of Alaska Power Association is to assist our members in accomplishing their goals of delivering electric energy and other services at the best value to their consumers.
Alaska Power Association provides representation and program services to help our utility members be cost-effective in their efforts to serve consumers.
The organization is governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives from each of the electric cooperative and municipal member utilities. More than 90 percent of Alaskans receive electricity from either a cooperative or a municipal (publicly-owned) utility.

- Active Members shall be any rural electric cooperative corporation, municipally owned electric utility, joint action agency or regional electric authority which is organized under the laws of the State of Alaska and which has annual sales of at least 800 MWH.

- Supporting Members shall be any individual, partnership, corporation or other organization not eligible to be an Active or Associate Member that has an interest in the activities of this Association.
*On March 10, 2010, the Alaska Power Association Board of Directors voted to approve revisions to the Association’s bylaws that included changing the names of the membership categories from Active, Contributing, and Associate to Active, Associate, and Supporting.
